Hello Stars!

Its been some time since I’ve updated this! I wonder if anyone still notices or check this out anymore, but I have no-one to blame for that but myself. Anyways, since the last time I updated this there have been many projects started, and stopped.  Some by lack of time, others because of lack of interest, but such is life. Feel free to take a gander at the new art I uploaded under the pages “Orion concept art” and “Zombie/Undead game”.  As always, leave your comments, and keep on keepin on! :)

Lot Lizards!!!

Well Lot Lizards is done and is up on http://www.wooglie.com/playgame.php?gameID=509. It is a great pick-up game if you are getting your oil changed or something like that. We don’t pretend that this will change the face of gaming or anything, just something to kill some time with and maybe add a little bit of humor with the in-game-advertisements. The real project we are looking forward to publishing is called “Orion” which has been in development for quite some time. First in Flash, and now utilizing the same 3-d engine we used for Lot Lizards. Here is a link to some very early footage from the first stage of Orion, and a special sneak-peek of our main character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVhmR5Z0OEo

Well its almost here!

Hey all,

I am happy to announce that the animated web-intro for creditcoach is up on their website for you to be informed AND entertained. I gotta thank Andy, and Kurt at creditcoach for first getting me the gig, and secondly for just being cool to work with. If you need to improve your credit score, or just want to see my work check it out at http://www.creditcoach.net/HowWeHelp .I am also very happy to announce that our first game will be available soon for the PC and not too long after, the iPhone. It is called Lot Lizards and you can see some screen shots on our Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1463376991&v=photos&ref=pymk#!/pages/Asylum-Games/360390120423) or through our own website AsylumGamesonline.com. If you are looking for other content of mine, you can check out the new book I did the cover art for from Unearthed press at http://unearthedpress.com/. Its a great anthology of horror/sci-fi stories by some good up and coming authors (great idea for stocking stuffers hint, hint!) Lastly, the art is completed and should be available as soon as I have more details for a childrens book for Senator Dave Hansens family called “Butterflies in the garden”.  It is an excellent story that helps people (especially children) learn to cope with the sudden loss of a loved one. I assume they will link to it through the families website http://elliesfund.org/family.html and I will post the proposed cover art here soon as well

. So thats all for now, and I promise to post more here as soon as I can find some time!!

Its been a while…..

Hey gang (assuming theres anybody that reads this) It has been a while since I was last motivated to post. ‘ve had several fairly big projects come and go since then and am happy to say that I plan to post up here more often and bring more art into the library here. The great thing about being a contract artist is that you get to use your creative side all the time when “working” the downside is, it is more than likely someone elses vision that you’re putting on display. Theres nothing wrong with that, its just that it does take you out of your wheelhouse with subject matter. I like doing the projects and things I do, but my real forte is monsters, and guns, and creepy things, so doing the everyday stuff pays the bills, but its not something you really would say falls into the category of fantasy/comic-book art. It would be nice if I could do a project and then also throw it up on here as part of the library for the world to see, but I think most of my fanbase (if there is any!) would probably opt to not see what I do for my daily job! I will however have some more stuff shortly to put on display, so be patient and know that I haven’t forgotten you!

Well time put the nose to the grindstone

Holy cow, has it been that long since I last posted? Guess so! Well I’ll update the three or four people that may still check out this blog and those of you who may stumble across it by accident. Since my last blog I’ve joined forces with three other gentlemen and formed our very own video-game company called Asylum games.  There is a FaceBook fan page (so join if you haven’t already), and a real website coming soon. We do regular updates to it almost weekly with snippets of new art, or news blobs about what we’re up to. I have a lot of work to do on this as this is a side-scrolling flash game, and it requires a lot of custom art to fill up not only the characters that you will play as, or against; but also all the background stuff and interactive items too. So its been really busy lately, but also very rewarding. It’ll be a lot better if and when we can get some funding to make the game, but that is something we’ll discuss after we complete at least the first level. So until then, keep yourself glued to our FB fanpage (http://www.facebook.com/#/pages/Asylum-Games/360390120423?ref=ts) and we’ll talk (so to speak!)  soon!

So much for Halloween… :(

Well to say that my Halloween didn’t go over so well is a bit like saying Hitler kinda had some anger issues. It was a train-wreck from the moment I attempted to get it off the ground. The trick-or-treating with my kids went great and they had some awesome, and unique looking costumes as well. I’ll spare you the details but it was a looooong process of getting ready, and by the time I actually got out to the bars, or should I say bar, to meet my friends I basically just wanted to go home. And that I did. So the one day a year I look forward to more than any other and I totally passed it up because I just couldn’t psych myself up for it. It was still good seeing my friends, and all the other costumes people were wearing but I just couldn’t do it.

But enough about my griping, and on to business. I just posted my first web-comic (although its only 2 pages long) and I had a ton of fun doing it. It was a theme thats kind of out of my comfort zone. I like to think of it as a more mature version of “Archie” set to one of the greatest songs ever by the Foo Fighters, everlong. The color is pretty bad I’ll admit, as I am not really trained to be a comic-book colorist (you easily see that can’t you?). But I think the illustrations come off as fairly good from the original pencils I laid down. So please leave your comments if you feel so inclined and we’ll talk at you soon!!

Who doesn’t love Halloween?

Well its that time of year again, the leaves changing colors, jack-o’lanterns on doorsteps, and the front yard dressed up like its the set of CSI. Yes, its Halloween. I absolutely love Halloween and look forward to it every year. I usually dress up as some sort of superhero, or villain (something I never escaped from my youth). There is something comforting about pretending to be someone else for an evening (most people that know me would say I do this every day) You can be an ironic walking-cliche, a comedic character from a film, or the trampiest tramp to squeeze into a nurses outfit.

Which raises an excellent question, as I’ve walked through the Halloween and department stores I’ve noticed a trend of  womens costumes getting sluttier, and more revealing. And it usually consists of an occupation, and an adjective in front of it. Example: naughty + referee, nasty + cop, sassy +nurse, you get the idea. As a heterosexual male, I’m not totally opposed to this, however I still enjoy the costumes that are original. The custom, or home-made costumes are a rarity as of the last couple years partly in fact to the Halloween costume business makes some pretty cool (and fairly inexpensive) costumes. I’m afraid its a trend thats here to stay, but don’t let that discourage you from creating something unique and terriffic for the world to see. And if that doesn’t work I’m sure you can find something revealing at Spencers!
